Highley Light Lock - 6mm (HIGLLK006)
Two common causes of a propeller and nut spinning off the shaft are:
The application of an electric starter
Backfiring. Four-stroke engines are especially susceptible to this.
Any mechanic knows a nut screwed against a second nut locks the first one in place. They call this double nutting. We applied the principle of double nutting to propeller nuts in a special way.
The Lite Lock or Prop Lock replaces the propeller washer as shown in the photos above. A second nut, safety spinner or heavy hub screws against the Lite Lock or Prop Lock and eliminates the problem of propeller spinoff.
Aluminum Lite Locks also compliment the appearance of a safety spinner.
A 1/2 ounce brass Prop Lock adds just a little more nose weight for a tail heavy airplane and goes well with our heavy hub. We have added 10mm and 3/8" to our brass locking nuts.
